Hold It Like the Twilight

Published by under Amigurumi,Familia

Usually, having websites that get a half decent number of visitors means you get a bunch of spam and junk, but once in a while, you get something really cool.  And it’s only when I get something really cool in the mail that I decide to post about it in one or more of my sites. [...]

Amigurumi!

Published by under Amigurumi,Familia,Motherhood

I take great pride in hand-making some of my daughter’s toys, and it made it all the more worthwhile when I recently went into my daughter’s room to tuck her in at night, and found that she’d already tucked in a doll I’d crocheted for her in a sweet makeshift shoebox cradle with a little [...]

Jen’s Genealogical Research Blog

Published by under Familia

I created a new blog on this domain last night dedicated to my miscellaneous genealogical research – the baptism, birth, and passenger lists, etc., and other data that’s too boring to post here and doesn’t fit in directly with my genealogy wiki.  I also plan on posting research methods that have worked well for me, [...]

Michael Brey

Published by under Familia

Well it turns out that Michael Brey’s daughter, Elizabeth Brey, wasn’t so elusive after all.  We did have her parent’s names, so that’s always a plus (there’s nothing more annoying in genelogical research than an end of the line), and I found a great deal of information about her, her father Michael Brey, and her siblings [...]

The Elusive Elizabeth Brey

Published by under Familia

I’ve put Jacob Beals research on the backburner now and have moved on to his wife, Elizabeth Brey, both for a change of pace and in hopes of getting some Jacob information out of the new line of research. What’s so tricky about these two is that there are so many variations on the spellings of [...]

TNG – The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding Review

Published by under Familia

While I enjoy the wiki platform I’ve been using for my online ancestry project, I thought I would try out some genealogy sitebuilding software and see how it worked out.  So this week I purchased TNG for $29.99 and have been trying it out.  It definitely has some aesthetic appeal that my wiki doesn’t have [...]

The Mystery That Is Jacob Beals

Published by under Familia

I got to the end of the Beals line today in my genealogy wiki, Jacob Beals, and am dying to know more – who were your parents, Jacob Beals?  This is too early to be the end of the line! I did manage to get a nice amount of information from Mouser Ancestry, and you [...]

Great Great Grandpa James Francis Beals

Published by under Familia

I’m still working mainly on my dad’s side of the family and have spent the past couple of days putting James Francis Beals‘s page together and it would truly be ‘but a mere shadow of its former self’ (a phrase my dad used to use often) if it weren’t for the vast amount of information [...]

Genealogy Trip to the Heart of Cherokee Country: Tahlequah

Published by under Familia,Travel

This weekend my husband, daughter, and I went to Tahlequah to do some research on my husband’s Cherokee side of the family at the Cherokee Heritage Center and Tsa La Gi village.  It was a splendid trip all around!  ‘Twas a beautiful Spring day, and all of Tahlequah was in bloom.  If you’ve never been there, [...]

Susanah Hoffman McQuiston

Published by under Familia

I found an obituary for my great-grandmother’s sister in my dad’s drawer over the weekend so spent this morning getting her (Susanah Hoffman McQuiston) page and my great-grandmother Nettie Frances Hoffman‘s page up.  Unfortunately, I don’t remember meeting them, but I am glad someone had the forethought to save all of these  obituaries.  Too bad [...]
