New Regime

Published by Jennifer under Featured, Music

I couldn’t sleep this morning - I was wide awake at 4:00 and couldn’t get back.  I tried the usual plane crash daydreams but to no avail… so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to start my new regime.
I’d been planning to make some changes this week anyway and was falling behind, so really, [...]

i’ll believe in anything…

Published by Jennifer under Featured, Music

if you’ll believe in anything.

I took a rare week night out with my sis and her husband to go see Wolf Parade at The Marquee in Tulsa tonight - it was the best show I’ve seen in years.
First we stumbled out of the T-storms & tornadoes into “Lola’s,” a dia de los muertos themed tapas bar [...]

A Month of Halloween

Published by Jennifer under Familia, Featured

It felt like my family and I spent the whole of October celebrating Halloween; or at least celebrating the cool weather and the orange backdrop of fall, as well as out-of-town family & friends coming and going.
Our family loves fall anyway and we always get an early start on the festivities… this year it started [...]

The Results of Smalti 101

Published by Jennifer under Art, Featured

Well - I may not have produced the world’s greatest modern mosaics, but I did end up with three little pieces of color and awkwardness that I like enough to display in my decor. Plus going to art class was really a nice segway from the office.
So here’s what I made - three tree-themed smalti [...]

Published by Jennifer under Art, Featured

The OKC Art Museum is just wrapping up their Roman Art from the Louvre exhibition and my family and I made sure we cought it while it was in town.  While we found this to be interesting, what we all really enjoyed were the modern art collections that the museum houses, especially the Dale Chihuly blown glass [...]

Conor Oberst at Cain’s

Published by Jennifer under Featured, Music

Well my husband and I got to see Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band at Cain’s recently and enjoyed the laid-back show that Conor and the new band put on.  Since it was him and his new band, we didn’t get to hear all those classic Bright Eyes songs like “Let’s Not Shit Ourselves [...]

Get Thai’d

Published by Jennifer under Featured, Tasties

My little sis and I just had one of the best meals in Tulsa (second only to a Fuji meal) at Lanna Thai.  Everything is so fresh and flavorful there!
I started out with THE best coffee I’ve ever had - their Thai Iced Coffee (super strong, just how I like it, and the white cream [...]

Spread too Thin OR OR The Social Breakthroughs vs. The Meaningless Dribble as a Result of Wine? OR “Doesn’t Anyone Know Anyone Anymore” OR The Go-Getter

Published by Jennifer under Featured, Movies, Music

(That title was so Sufjan).
(Let me preface this by saying that this blog post is written with a a few glasses of red wine… I feel so chatty but I’ll pare things down!)
I finally got around to watching The Go-Getter (starring the lovely, dryly humorous, and interesting Zooey Deschanel) and while I haven’t had the time between watching [...]

The Beginnings of a Mosaic

Published by Jennifer under Art, Featured

I decided to figure out what mosaic I was going to do once I got to my 2nd class and saw the colored tiles that I had ordered up close and personal, and once I saw them I know what I wanted to do.  (It was a little disconcerting to see that most everyone else [...]
