A historical timeline of the region that is currently known as Lehigh County, Pennsylvania

1682 - William Penn named Bucks County in this year and it was one of the three original counties in Pennsylvania. William Penn named it after Buckinghamshire, England, the county where he lived and from which his family originated. Penn's home, Pennsbury Manor, is located within Bucks County.
1752 - Northampton was formed from parts of Bucks County.
1812 - Lehigh County was formed from the division of Northampton County.
