Gombe PDP district chief moves to APC

A former People’s Democratic Party Ward Leader in Gombe State, Bajoga Ward, Gombe Local Government Area, Umar Mua’zu, has defected to the All Progressives Congress.

According to a letter sent to our correspondent on Sunday, titled “Notification of my leaving the PDP”, which was addressed to the chairman of his party, he praised the party for the good working relationship over the years.

Mua’zu revealed that his 17 years of membership had brought positive gains to the party, adding that his defection had become imperative following the desire of his people.

He described his defection as a defection caused by the development progress of the incumbent administration, pointing out that the state’s Governor Muhammadu Yahaya had been a game-changer.

The letter said in part: “This development is the result of my series of consultations with key stakeholders on the other side of the divide. The primary purpose of politics is to protect the interests of its people. Also, when the majority of people have chosen to identify with a more just cause and support the game changer. I am compelled to join them and move on.

Mua’zu sought partnership in his new party, particularly to ensure Yahaya’s emergence to the second term. He concluded: “This serves as formal notification of my resignation and decision to join the APC.”
