Iranian Supreme Leader calls for end to normalization of Arab states with Israel

Arab nations that normalized relations with Israel last year have “sinned” and should reverse these measures, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said.

The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco have all declared in 2020 that they will normalize their relations with Israel, as Washington, under the administration of then-US President Donald Trump, made the Arab rapprochement. Israel a priority in its foreign policy.

“Some governments have unfortunately made mistakes – made big mistakes and sinned in normalizing (their relations) with the usurping and oppressive Zionist regime,” Khamenei said, referring to Israel.

“It is an act against Islamic unity, they must come back from this path and make up for this big mistake,” Khamenei added, in a speech marking a public holiday in honor of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad.

“If the unity of Muslims is achieved, the Palestinian question would be definitely resolved in the best way,” Khamenei said.

In May, Khamenei called Israel a “terrorist base” and “no country”.
