Land Use Lawyer Cathy Puskar Named 2022 Alexandria Business Leader of the Year

ALEXANDRIA, VA – “ALX Chamber is thrilled to announce Cathy Puskar as 2022 Business Leader of the Year” was the morning headline of a late-breaking email posted by the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Catharine Puskar is a shareholder in the law firm of Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley and Walsh, where his practice focuses on land use and zoning issues in the City of Alexandria and Arlington County. She’s gone through the ins and outs of local business regulations and zoning laws to help hundreds of businesses succeed.

“I am honored to have been chosen as Business Leader of the Year by the Chamber and I am honored when I think of those who have received this recognition in the past. I am proud of the work I have done, both professionally and in my charitable endeavours, and plan to continue working to ensure that Alexandria continues to thrive and remains the vibrant and welcoming city we all love. ! Puskar said this morning when reacting for a comment.

Puskar will be honored at the “Best in Business Awards 2022”, presented by Burke & Herbert BankOctober 27.

Cathy Puskar joined Walsh, Colucci, Lubeley and Walsh in November 1998. With an in-depth knowledge of the law, process, policy and people required to achieve her client’s objectives, Cathy has successfully represented multiple clients in the obtaining the necessary rights for various projects, including large residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.

Puskar represents major landowners with development approvals in major planning areas across Alexandria, including North Potomac Yard, Potomac Yard/Potomac Greens, Beauregard and Eisenhower East. In addition, Cathy has the distinction of having represented clients in the approval process for most of the Columbia County Arlington and Columbia Commercial and Neighborhood Revitalization form-based code projects that were developed at this day.

  • New headquarters of the American Physical Therapy Association in Potomac Yard
  • Mixed-use project at 2901 Eisenhower Avenue
  • Alexandria Memory Care Center
  • Goodwin House Expansion
  • The Thorton
  • Hotel Monaco, Maison Morrison and Lorien
  • The Clayborne

In addition, Cathy currently sits on the board of directors of Alexandria Police Foundation and the Government Relations Committee of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. Her past board involvement includes Burke & Herbert Bank Advisory Board, John Marshall Bank Advisory Board, Alexandria Senior Services, Alexandria Scholarship Fund (Chair 2013), the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership, the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce (Chair 2009,) Healthy Families Alexandria, Alexandria Youth Policy Commission, and Communities in Schools of Northern Virginia. She has also served on the Gifts Committee for the College of William & Mary Reunion and the Development Committee for the City of Alexandria Walk to Fight Breast Cancer.

Cathy earned her Juris Doctorate and Bachelor’s degree from George Washington University and the College of William and Mary, respectively. She is a member of the Alexandria Bar Association, Arlington County Bar Association, Northern Virginia Building Industry Association and the Urban Chapter of the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association.
