PA state police arrest church leader accused of groping underage child

A church deacon has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor, Pennsylvania State Police say.

Jeronimo Maisonet, 45, of East Stroudsburg, was a church leader at God-Holy Ground Church, which is held in a rented space at Middle Smithfield Evangelical Presbyterian Church, located at 5205 Milford Road in the Smithfield Township, LehighValleyLive reports citing the police.

Maisonet has been accused of kissing, groping and making sexual comments towards a 14-year-old girl from January 1, 2018, according to police and court documents.

Maisonet was charged with the following, according to his court record:

  • F3 Illegal contact with a minor – Sexual offenses
  • M2 Indecent Aggression Person under 16
  • F3 Bribery of minors – Defendant aged 18 or over

He was returned to Monroe County Jail in lieu of $ 200,000 bail, according to his record.

Her preliminary hearing was scheduled with Judicial District Judge Colleen Mancuso on Nov. 24 at 10 a.m., according to her file.

Police believe other minors who have been in contact with Maisonet may have been victimized.
