Sharad Pawar party leader Dhananjay Munde gaffe in Maharashtra Assembly. Then an explanation

Dhananjay Munde requested that the remarks be removed. (Case)

Mumbai:

NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Dhananjay Munde told the state legislature on Sunday that Milind Narvekar, a close confidant of Shiv Sena chairman Uddhav Thackeray, had met with BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis , after the latter became Deputy Chief Minister a few days ago.

Mr Munde had met Mr Fadnavis after he was appointed Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Thursday.

Speaking in the House while congratulating newly appointed Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, Mr Munde inadvertently called him Milind Narvekar, who is the secretary of the Shiv Sena.

When it was brought to his attention, Mr. Munde requested that the remarks be deleted.

However, he explained the reason for his blunder saying, “My recent meeting with Fadnavis has been widely discussed in the media. However, I learned from (Sena chief) Aaditya Thackeray that Milind Narvekar also met with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.”

“That’s the only reason I mistakenly called new speaker Milind instead of Rahul Narvekar,” he said.

Milind Narvekar, known as Uddhav Thackeray’s trusted aide, is famous in political circles for relating well to people from different political backgrounds.
